As part of its ‘12 days of OpenAI’ December launch that started on Thursday (December 5, 2024), the Microsoft-backed AI start-up has unveiled a new ChatGPT Pro subscription tier that costs $200 per month and allows users to access the company’s most advanced AI models and offerings.
According to OpenAI, the available o1-pro mode “thinks” for longer periods in order to provide a more reliable response.
“Today, we’re adding ChatGPT Pro, a $200 monthly plan that enables scaled access to the best of OpenAI’s models and tools. This plan includes unlimited access to our smartest model, OpenAI o1, as well as to o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice. It also includes o1 pro mode, a version of o1 that uses more compute to think harder and provide even better answers to the hardest problems,” said OpenAI in a blog post, noting that it expects to add more powerful productivity features to the plan.
OpenAI also noted that the o1 pro mode performed better than the o1 and o1-preview when it came to math, science, and coding.
In addition to this, within the o1 pro mode, the model’s solution has to be checked and confirmed correct four out of four times.
OpenAI further announced that it was distributing 10 grants of ChatGPT Pro to medical researchers at high-profile U.S. institutions, so they could leverage the technology while studying diseases or working with complex biomedical data sets.
OpenAI o1 is now out of preview in ChatGPT.
