Microsoft has announced that the company has started rolling out updates to make file sharing easy between iPhones and Windows systems. The feature will work with iOS 16 and or higher updates.
Users will also need the Link to Windows app on their phones to be at version 1.24112.73 or higher and the Phone Link version must be 1.24112.89.0 or higher. The feature is also just limited to the Windows Insider Program for now.
Files can be shared between iPhones and PCs easily by tapping on the share icon, clicking on Link to Windows and then tapping the device with which you want to share the file. Then, to share a file from a PC to an iPhone, choose the files on the PC and click on ‘Share’ and then select ‘My Phone.’
If the user is connecting to Windows for the first time, they will get access to file sharing during the initial steps. If the devices were paired in the past, they can go to aka.ms/addAccount on their PCs and complete the remaining steps.
Earlier in August, Microsoft introduced a similar feature for file transfer between Windows and Android.
Wireless transfer between iOS devices and Android has always been difficult and this AirDrop-like update seems to simplify the process.
